“Protecting vital resources is the core of our purpose. We promote environmental responsibility through our operations by setting goals and holding ourselves accountable through self-auditing for continuous operational improvements. “We source only the best suppliers and dispensing equipment from the most highly recognized eco-friendly companies in the industry. “GreenEarth does more than protect the earth; it protects the quality of the garments it cleans. Our process utilises a cleaning chemistry that is scientifically better for fabrics. Our customers will appreciate how much fresher, brighter and whiter their dry cleaning looks, not to mention how much smoother and silkier they feel.” IN THE PLANT Other points of interest include the magnificent sign-writing at the drive-thru area, as you can see from the photograph of the drive through on page 34. The latest in customer drop off and pick up via The Red Box is available at the entrance to the store, for those late night drop offs and early morning pick ups. The Red Box seamlessly integrates with Barry Deacon’s own computerised POS system. I also like the display cabinet at the head of the driveway which highlights the beautiful work Lawrence do with wedding dresses. What an eye-catching display for people dropping off and picking up their goods. Spencer Systems were heavily involved in ensuring the plant is as energy efficient as possible. They supplied and commissioned the 25kg Union K Series drycleaning machine, specially sign-written as a Lawrence GE machine. It even has their company logo over the control panel! Continuous distillation, no Tonsil powder, this machine uses GreenEarth, which announces its presence on the drive through mural. The Union K Series can utilise all alternative solvents and has exceptional solvent recovery. The cage door has some very snazzy red LED lighting. Energy recovery is the focus of this plant design, with heat recovery and water recycling on the both the washing and drycleaning machines, and gas powered instant hot water. SUMMARY If you would like to learn more about Lawrence Dry Cleaners and their ecological journey please feel free to contact them via the Head Office at 887 Bourke Street Waterloo NSW 2017 telephone 02 9319 6000 or their website www.lawrencedrycleaners.com.au 30 THE AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL DRYCLEANER & LAUNDERER AUGUST SEPTEMBER OCTOBER 2015 Anwar explains some of the finer points of drycleaning to Julie Owens MP, who seemed very interested in the whole drycleaning process and array of services. Julie gets much of her wardrobe made locally in Parramatta and is an avid user of drycleaning.
