56 THE AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL DRYCLEANER & LAUNDERER AUGUST SEPTEMBER OCTOBER 2015 cheerleader in other peoples lives? Can you meet more regularly, bring more people together, encourage others to enjoy and improve themselves? This is really important if you have geographically dispersed people, as your state wide organisation does. Add in Skype calls at a set time so that more people know it is coming up and can participate. This adds Value to your Membership and your Association. TURN ADVERSITY TO ADVANTAGE April 2014 Australian Athletics Chamipships, all athletes trying out for classifiecation. It took me a year to borrow a rac- ing wheelchair, which was heavy, with steering problems. I was racing Rosemary Little, the first woman of Australian track racing in a wheelchair. She clocks 100m in under 20 seconds. (I come in at 59 seconds and asked her to make meacupofteaattheother end.) It was freezing cold, with a head wind. The gun went off, and so did Rosemary. I took off and ... suddenly my chair started to veer left and it got stuck on the inside rail. I am sure everyone else felt much worse than I did. I thought: this is great! Now everyone thinks I am crap, I can fly under the radar! My time, incidentally, was 2mins 27 sec for that 100 metres. Where is the oportunity here? Stuck there on the rail I said “Thank you.” You can not feel bad if you are grateful. Ask yourself when you face something difficult, “How can I find value in this? Can I share it with someone else to help them? Where is the Gold?” Be careful of your language, the Universe doesn’t get sarcasm. Next time something goes wrong, please think of it as an exciting opportunity. Really! Then, take action. It is the one step you can take. HOW TO BE RESILIENT Stacey made her book “How To Be Resilient” available to buy, and I must say, it is a fabulous read and worth every cent of $30.00 You can buy it online.
