The National : APRIL MAY JUNE 2016
THE TEAM Mark and Kristy met at a gym in 2008, and on the first of July 2009 bought Regal Drycleaners. It was a big year, they welcomed their first child, Samuel, in September 2009. Daisy followed in 2013. (And no, she isn’t named after the drycleaning plant Greg used to own, but for Kristy’s Great Grand-mother!) They are joined by Kate, Tammara and Trish. Each of these three women are skilled in customer services. Kate, who is generally on the front counter, has owned an IGA is very much a people person. I knew from speaking with her on the ‘phone that she was a cut above. One Friday I needed to talk to Mark, and he had left. I explained it was urgent and she asked if I would give her my number, and she would pass it on for me. Mark called me back five minutes later. Instead of just saying “No, he’s gone” she thought about the possibility that Mark also might want to speak with me. That sort of initiative and consideration is indispensable to the ideal representative answering the phone on behalf of your business. I was pleased to meet Tammara, who has actually worked at Regal for 35 years. Let’s say I suspect child labour was involved, and she is an accomplished presser. When Mark ran into Trish at the IGA Deli, and she asked if he had any hours going, he was delighted. Trish previously had worked for his Dad, and left to have a family. An experienced presser doesn’t usually fall into your hands so easily, as most drycleaners will appreciate, and Trish completes the formidably experienced team. Kristy is the smiling face at the the counter and drives the van, Mark is the drycleaner and as you can see, they have fun on the counter together. 10 THE AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL DRYCLEANER & LAUNDERER APRIL MAY JUNE 2016 Kate and Kristy discussing a curtain order. Tammara checks a shirt before hanging it. Perfect, as usual. :) Monday afternoon, and Trish is cheerfully finishing off another load of pressing.
