The National : JULY - AUGUST 2016
THE AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL DRYCLEANER & LAUNDERER JULY AUGUST 2016 15 Editor: I have an article in the works on Drycleaners Who Are Doing Things Differently. The Hodges, with their home-made aprons and doggie coats for sale, drive in barista coffee in a leased off section, and boundless enthusiasm, were the inspiration for it, and I wish their business a speedy and full recovery. When you carefully check your plant each evening before heading home ... no hot tea-towels jammed into a trolley, no dryers full of linens that have not cooled down, tomorrows deliveries neatly stacked on trolleys were cooled before they were packed... you feel pretty confident that you have avoided the scourge of our industry, spontaneous combustion. But the deadliest threat to our industry in recent years has actually been electrical. Major fires from overloaded powerboards, switchboards and sub boards that short out, have devastated launderers and drycleaners alike. Please, have your electrics professionally checked. Our sincere best wishes to the Hodges family. Angela, Kellie and Barry Hodges at Excellente Dry Cleaners are still considering their future.
