The National : DRYCLEANER JANFEB2017
THE AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL DRYCLEANER & LAUNDERER JANUARY FEBRUARY 2017 7 Paddock artwork in nearby Lockhart DENILIQUIN, in south west- ern NSW, is divided in two parts by the Edward River, an anabranch of the Murray River, with the main business district located on the south bank. The town services a productive agricultural district with prominent rice, wool and timber industries. Hot dry summers give way to cool wetter winters. Population is approx 7,500 It is claimed that Benjamin Boyd, who established the head station the district in 1842, named his property Deniliquin, a corruption of Denilakoon, who was a local tribal elder known for his wresting ability which came with his impressive size and strength. Deniliquin (or “Deni” as it is affectionately known) is famous for the “Ute Muster”. In 1999 the first Deni Ute Muster attracted 2,839 utes the "Largest parade of legally registered utes in the world". By 2010 the event had become so popular that 10,152 utes turned up for the parade. I understand 2016 saw almost 20,000 people turn up for this iconic weekend, which includes a blue singlet muster. September 29 and 30th is the date for this years event. But don’t take my word for it, acquaint yourself with this lovely town.
