The National : DRY CLEANER MAY 2017
THE AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL DRYCLEANER & LAUNDERER MARCH APRIL MAY 2017 19 “Viv and Sister Lucy came to give us an insight into everyday life for the residents at St Antonines Aged Care South Africa. Our Company and staff recently donated to St Antonines to assist Liberty Baptist (Cardiff) install a water bore and pump:running water for the first time at St Antonines. “Viv gave us a graphic view of life for the residents of St Antonines and Sister Lucy in comparison to here in Australia for our aged community. All staff were moved and in awe of Sister Lucy's impact on her new community at the home in the middle of Zululand and we will be continuing to follow Sister Lucy and her work.” I urge you to visit the Pride website and read up more about this. It is very revealing, how involved they have become, in their broader community. Click here! http://www.pridedrycleaning. com.au/pride-in-our- community-service.html Pride Dry Cleaning & Laundry supports the local Chambers to improve business in the area for all our local businesses and employees, while Jennie is proudly a Director on the Board of the Hunter Business Chamber and previously the Lake Macquarie Business Group, supporting local businesses on issues that affect the region. This has resulted in excellent business to business networking and workflow with many recommendations and resulting work. BACK STORY As we were talking and I learned more of their “back story”and was very moved by their experiences. Phil was widowed in 1999 and left a single parent with two school age children. Ten years later he met Jennie and they just clicked. Funnily enough, they had most likely crossed paths a few times since their teens. Phil is a musician of some note and years ago played in the local pubs, and it is probable the vivacious young Jennie was at those same venues, dancing with her girlfriends. The pair met in 2009, and quickly established their coupledom. In 2012 they were tested when a fleshy lump behind Phil’s left knee was found to cancerous, but it proved to be another strong weld in their relationship. All they do is laugh! SUMMARY I really enjoyed my visit to Pride Drycleaning and Laundry, which has some truly unique aspects, not the least of which are Jennie and Phil. If you find yourself up Newcastle way, do give them a call, they love to talk drycleaning and have a laugh over a cuppa. (And leave yourself some time for the antique shops ... seriously!) n Jennie in her domain, enjoys chatting with customers.
