The National : DRY CLEANER MAY 2017
THE AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL DRYCLEANER & LAUNDERER MARCH APRIL MAY 2017 29 Yarra Linen is a new laundry and linen hire business which started from nothing in 2015 when Simon and his Dad, Paul, realised there was a necessity for a laundry in the Yarra Valley, following the disaster which overtook the Healesville Laundry in 2012. Simon had some experience with the importance of laundry, having owned and published the “Dining Out and Entertainment Guide” magazine for two and a half years, servicing Brisbane and Sunshine Coast. When he got a bit burned out, he came back to Murrundindi/Yea, where once again he helped out on Dad’s trout farm. Simon smiled somewhat ruefully saying he had “spent many weekends fencing the 100 acre farm and cleaning up after Black Saturday Bushfire, 40 minutes away from Healesville. Dad, Paul started Wilhelmina Trout Farm back in 1987 supplying fresh and smoked trout to supplies throughout Australia. At 26 years of age, Simon is that interesting “middle child” who is determined to forge his own way. Apart from “Dining Out” he has been an on-call boiler cleaner at the power stations in Gippsland, he has his Confined Spaces Certificate and Heights Harness Certificate. He has also tackled tree felling, and of course helped out at the family Trout Farm even as a child. Both Simon and Paul have moved on from Trout farming with the farm now leased.
