The National : JUNE-SEPT 2017
66 THE AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL DRYCLEANER & LAUNDERER JUNE JULY AUGUST SEPTEMBER 2017 We must thank the inimitable Heather Adamson for making this visit such a pleasure. We were greeted at the Hospital foyer and escorted through areas of interest to the Laundry operators, and several other areas, including patient rooms, finishing up in the staff cafeteria. A highlight was, of course, the Robotic Cart Movers. We were treated to a video presentation and explanation of the upgrade to the laundry. We spent a lot of time observing the carts going about their business delivering linen, meals, and medicines to wards, and docking to recharge their batteries, and I trust the photographs will give you an idea of these encounters. A special visit for Bendigo Boy, Jack Runnalls, who grew up just over the street, and played in his uncle’s backyard over the fence from the new section. It was really interesting to see how this modern method of moving carts around the hospital works and integrates with all sorts of departments within it. Here’s the first cab off the rank, so to speak. We followed them around!
