TREASURER’S REPORT Treasurer, Anthony Kingsley said it was pleasing to note that while all previous meet- ings had reported the LAA had been losing money, they are now stable and all out- standing debts are up to date. LAA financial review was made available to all Members present. The Board has appointed LDC Group with Megan McInnes as Administrator. Costs are far more reasonable and appropriate than that invoiced by the Ai Group. Financials accepted by Anthony Kingsley and seconded by Warwick Brown. 10. ELECTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS 2017/8 Seven members were nomi- nated as Directors. Nominations had been received for: Warwick Brown Princes Laundry - Chairman Joe Sullivan Spotless – Vice Chairman Anthony Kingsley Filterfab - Treasurer Rita Morrison Reserve Hospitality Linen Services - Secretary Shirley Naylor National Dry Cleaners Kerryn Wollington The LDC Group Asia Pacific Robert Fraser Blue line Laundries The proposed and seconded office holders were accepted unanimously by the meeting. This motion was carried. It was a pleasure to welcome two new Board members Rita Morrison (VIC) and Robert Fraser (Tasmania), both of whom have been committed Members, travelling interstate to attend LAA Meetings. 11. BUSINESS ITEMS: Report on Texcare Asia 2017 – Joe Sullivan A large turnout of all big businesses at the Conference and many new Asian compa- nies with equipment. The Asian equipment not yet up to European standard but working toward this. Little presence of RFID at the show with only 4 booths. Kerryn Wollington suggested presence at the Show of some companies may have been impacted by the Trade show in Beijing running simultaneously. A warning to members considering directly importing Asian equipment that it may not meet current Australia Standards. Gas fittings are an example, and the use of asbestos which is illegal in Australia. Similarly, warranties may prove difficult to enforce, and back up and maintenance may be difficult to access, particularly if there is no local representation. Anthony Kingsley, Treasurer of Laundry Association Australia, discussed the current financial position of the Association, and said he is pleased with the way the Association base is building. The new Secretariat should provide many benefits, not the least of which is a direct line for Members to Megan.
