The National : DRYCLEANER JAN APRIL 2019
22 THE AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL DRYCLEANER & LAUNDERER JANUARY FEBRUARY MARCH APRIL 2019 Adam also said to ensure it is pre- pay. Tourists bring it in with a plastic garbage bag. Locals use laundry bags and doonas. Jo and Vince Bourke said they wash the actual back packs, too. Nick, colours, white? Two loads? Adam yes, that provides an opportunity to upsell, and we are always careful with whites and lights. Brian Tonkin said the bag you give back is part of it. Your name is out there and people are seeing it. Joanne said they give away their purple bag, it can be washed several times over. We don’t ask for it back, but it comes back time and again. It is embroidered with our logo and phone and is great advertising. To put your information in B&Bs, to send it back in bags, no plastic, no hangers, is a great opportunity to sell. Some of the AirB&B are actual homes, and they have washers and dryers, but not everyone on holiday wants to do it themselves. And some have only a washer, no dryer. Roger Smith said they also have a laundrette, but they do get customers who want to leave the gear and get on with the business of being tourists. Most people are flexible on wash/dry/fold. Staff can get through a 5 shirt deal – and it is actually less labour. ???? So, a very interesting session! Do YOU do Bag Wash? Is it successful? Is it something you will now consider adding on to your business? All these stimulating questions which are a part of every DIA seminar. Ian and Vicki Peers(Deniliquin Drycleaners and Laundry, NSW) rarely miss a DIA TAS meeting. A great chance to listen to some great speakers, meet up with friends they have made over the years and to explore lovely Tassie. No show without Punch! John Murphy (Penguin Drycleaners Bulleen, VIC) and Matthew Hyde (Hyde’s Drycleaners, Gisborne, VIC) are great supporters of DIA Tasmania. Matthew and Tammy Bowem, Daisy Fresh, Launceston, and Brian Johnson, Fourways Drycleaners, Devonport, ready for business!
