• Response - Notice of Association Letter by The Hon Geoff Lee NSW MP re LDCT and applying for a Smart and Skilled Contract • Application for Topcentre laundry for Membership to LAA CHAIRMAN’S REPORT TRSA • Following on access to the TRSA website surveys have been sent to our members to get feedback and to determine what they found useful/would like to maintain access to i.e. training videos, “Clean & Green”, information etc. Depending on results from survey Members may gain access at a substantial dis- count. • access to the weekly TRSA newsletter • Joe read Anthony’s report (see end of this report) from Clean where Anthony attended the board meeting of the TRSA • TRSA Board Meeting was extremely professional, 100 page agenda with attached documents, breakfast was supplied and board members encouraged to meet prior to the start of the official meeting. • Large social aspect to the associa- tion at CleanShow including official opening, lunches, meetings and the Women in Laundry Program • Favourable mention was made of an observation of the number of women on LAA Board compared to TRSA by their Vice President. • Anthony spoke in regard to Twin Clean and extended an invitation to all TRSA members • Mention was made of CleanShow selling to Messer’s Frankfurt for the running of Clean Show USA • TRSA advocacy is a very strong part of their association • TRSA are looking at legislation being spoken about in regard to microfibres • Microfibres are being talked about both in commercial and domestic laundry situations and even dry cleaning • New York City is to begin licensing laundries. FOCUS GROUPS 1. Safety – Anthony Kingsley heading assisted by Shirley Naylor Ray Hayes was interested in indus- try sharing information regarding Lost Time Injury Rates and fail safety rates. Data share with other members to increase awareness 2. Strategy – Ray Hayes heading assisted by Rita Morrison Where the LAA heading and five year plan of what is to be achieved. 3. Employment Relations – Ray Hayes heading Rules affecting Laundry Employees. Fair Work are currently auditing Industry (wages, staffing etc). Explore this information in detail and determine scope of the focus group for next meeting 4. Professional Development & Training – Rita Morrison heading assisted by Kerryn Wollington TRSA have information and links to training content for those in the Laundry industry, this type of infor- mation may be added to the LAA website. Kerryn Wollington to continue with Industry Reference Committee and Training Accreditation Council, qualifications for Laundry currently under review (taken from 19 down to 15 units due to overlap and added RFID awareness unit) 5. Benchmarking – Warwick Brown heading assisted by Pam Cosker Work with the TRSA on benchmark- ing to gather information and coor- dinate it for industry use. Shirley Naylor to approach an industry contact for comparison. Suggestion this would be a good topic for round table at TwinClean. 6. Conferences – Shirley Naylor heading assisted by Anthony Kingsley TwinClean proposed for May 2020 LAA involvement with the DIA as in 2018. Agreed that the venue be Crowne Promenade, which has a central Melbourne location, access to ‘foodie’ areas, and Casino. Speakers and Sponsors is the topic for the Organising Committee at present, and it is on track. All agreed to proceed with Focus Groups and let Members know if they want to provide input and to provide contact details to members. Mid week Skype meetings recom- mended for continuation. The TRSA is impressed by the level of participation by Australian laundry industry women on the LAA Board. Other LAA Board Members are Chairman Joe Sullivan (Spotless), Ray Hayes (South Pacific Laundries) Warwick Brown (Princes Laundry) and Anthony Kingsley (Filterfab Pty Ltd).
